Some perspective on our contamination level and the extent of the affected area:
Remember the movie Erin Brockovich and the people in Hinkley, California affected by Hexavelent Chromium and who won the largest court settlement for a direct-action lawsuit in US history?
Average Hex Chrom. levels in Hinkley were recorded as 1.19 ppb with a peak of 3.09 ppb (our levels of MCHM are at 1 ppm, so move that decimal over one point HIGHER). That’s not to say this chemical is more dangerous than CR-s, BUT WE DON’T KNOW.
And the town of Hinkley had a population of 1,915 exposed people in 2000, 196 of which have cancer as of 2008 after pollution of the groundwater beginning in 1952.
We have over 300,000 people exposed to this chemical and do not yet know how many will be affected in the decades to come.
